"Slot-loading" alone is too ambiguous, since the next several generations
of iMacs will probably fit that description. One can imagine a user
purchasing a new iMac, seeing "iMac (slot loading)" on a compatible list,
and thiking that his model will work when in fact it doesn't. You and I

Hi!
I'm trying to install woody onto a G4 Cube using Ethan's current
preferred method (drop the relevant files on the root of the relevant
volume, craft a yaboot.conf, reboot into OF, etc) using the current
version of boot-floppies. Here is the entirety of my yaboot.conf:

Changing the VM settings in MacOS will have no effect when you boot up the
7600 in linux. You will definatelly need more ram to run X comfortably but
in lieu of more ram you should probably make a swap partition of about
50mb. As for your kernel panic I would be very supprised if it had

Hi,
Did a really stupid thing and rsync'd away my working
2.4.9-benh0 directory and turned it into a 2.4.14-pre5-ben0
directory.
It wouldn't be too bad if 2.4.14 was usable on my machine
(PowerMac4400/200MHz 604e, 96MB RAM) but it's constantly
swapping, swapping appears to be slower than in 2.4.9

Hello everyone,
These questions fall under the "newbie" category, so bear with me.
I've got a G3/266 running woody, with a 2.2.18 kernel (2.2.19 has been iffy
for me, especially regarding X, because I've got a Voodoo 3 card), with a PCI
USB card, which is attached to my Epson Stylus Color 777

Thanks for all the replies on this subject. I've installed pmud on my
powerbook to minimise crashes due to unexpected loss of battery power.
I'm thinking of using ext3 or XFS for journaling file system support
once I have looked into these a bit.
Thanks again

no longer maintained. It sounds like people are running woody, tho
