Erp...sorry about that, mental hiccup :-) There are .debs too for the same
package, I forgot which list I was posting to
I thought you'd said you weren't allowed to make this code public (at least,
not in-between releases...)? At least that's what you said before when I asked
about Mach64... that must have changed, hooray!
A big thanks! I'll be testing the Mach64, most certainly...

Hello all,
Well here is an update to my install problems...
Booting up for the install was no problem (using the miboot img...
hfs-boot.img) it was booting up for the first time (to finish the
install... you know the apt stuff) that caused to the problems. I could
not get the kernel shipped wi

Ok, maybe this is the deal. I think I put '2.2.16' in the EXTRAVERSION field
in the
Makefile. Would that add the extra 2.2.16?
I didn't name anything else like that.
Can I just take it out of the Makefile?
One other thing I did (that I found on some on-line documentation) when
compiling kernel was
to make new links from
/usr/include/asm
/usr/include/linux
/usr/include/scsi
to
/usr/src/linux/include/asm-ppc

Hi,
I wonder what's the best to do for my X11 configuration :
use the fb or the Xfree 4.0 tree ?
As I understand the fb for the moment is a more stable choice but the
Xfree solution is a best choice on the long term...
Can somebody advice me ?
Thanks in advance, xavier

Hi,
For the moment are only summarised the first steps of my install.
I don't have the time to try to make the X11 part to function which is
for me the last step before a full installed box.
I have the file under tex and ps format (size 71858)

Not true: PPC uses compressed kernel images embedded into a loadable image
(ELF in case of my CHRP box). A quick glance at arch/ppc/coffboot/Makefile
makes me think a similar thing is done for PowerMac.

For those interested, I upgraded my kernel from 2.2.16 to Paul's
2.2.17pre7 and the hangs caused by GDB stopped occurring.

Our 1996 Powerbase 200 603ev PCI Mac clone died yesterday.
Sometimes it was Mac, mostly it was one of our network backups.
The drives spin up, there's enough video to gray the screen
but nothing else. Oh well.
Is there any reason not to put the whole thing in the trash?
