command, and then that becomes the default from then on. Dpkg will
automatically examine the statoverride file every time a package is
installed to see whether there are any local statoverrides; you don't
need to do anything in your maintainer scripts any longer.

The reason is that dependencies change, and you should list only those
_you_ need. What others need is their business.

e's nothing in /usr/doc in the .debs themselves. Also, you
can do without the manual symlinking of /usr/doc to /usr/share/doc, as
debhelper puts in code to do that (dh_installdocs).

I would recommend using (dh-make/dh_make and) debhelper rather than
debstd. It's much easier to use and more easily fine-tuneable than
debstd. Incidentally, this bug has been fixed in unstable and
testing.
