Redhat7 works great with it,
but i realy want to use debian
i try installing potato,
but the laptop hangs when i try to set up the card manager,
even when i dont and try to boot up with a card manager it hangs
any help?

HOwever, since i like noodling with debian on my main rig,
i would to have a debian on my laptop.
after trying to get some help from the irc debian.
it seens that my problem is
with the cardmangr.
When i boot
Do a google search for 'linux on laptops'
there is a website that has a huge collection of
laptops (brands and makes) that run linux
in one form or another.
go find it and find your lap top if it is there.

This 'auto' only tells the kernel to set it automatically,
but you dont specify exactly what you what eth0 to be
ie
iface eth0 inet dhcp?
or
iface eth0 inet static
blag
Tell me again how old is the boot floppy?
I think your problem is that the pcmcia locks when it does it scan of
pcmcia ports
In the later updates, it has a certain port range that is off limits
