Hi,
You need to upgrade to the pcmcia-cs packages in sid, the ones in woody and
potato will NOT compile under later 2.4 kernels. I believe any version above
.27 will work correctly. Give that a shot.

I realise it's a small distinction, but modprobe doesn't look for
modules by file name, so 'modprobe irda.o' won't work. Try 'modprobe
irda'

There aren't any packages per se; all the drivers you need are part of
the kernel. Use modconf to load the one you need.

It's not reality that's important, but how you perceive things.

system. The quickest way to fix that is to re-do the upgrade you
interrupted. To do that, reboot with /bin/sh as above. You'll have
to mount /var (if applicable), and bring up the network interface
