Hey all... I recompiled my kernel 2.4.2, and did all of the System.map, vmlinuz copying, then ran LILO (which seemed quite happy). However, when I boot the computer, I get the following prompt, after which it freezes: LIL- Any ideas about this? I have more than one kernel on the system, so it s

isdntuils - hisax problem

Hi, I try to install Teles.S0/Teles.BRI PCMCIA card into my laptop. I tried the stock kernel 2.2.18 and a recompiled 2.2.19. Compiled it as a module. When I try to insert (modprobe hisax) into kernel 2.2.19 the isdnutils reports that the hisax module is not inserted. But lsmod gives a list with

G'Day ! I have an old Dell Latitude LX that has proven to be very reliable over the years and powerful enough to handle the loads I put it through.  In addition, the price is right.  But today the old harddrive crashed, so I need to get a replacement. Now I do not think they make 500M ide harddr

Hi, Been pretty stupid I'm afraid. The computer:- Gateway 5150 Notebook, PII-233, 64MB RAM, IBM DKLA 4.6 GB HDD Background-: Came with Win98. Split and loaded RH6.0, then Debian 2.2r0 Dumped RH Dumped Win98 Loaded NT4.0 (SP6) The latter made it necessary to boot off floppy as I have yet to find

- F I can't imagine that you can't do a straight(startup/install) boot from the CD, so going on from that assumption: Boot frm CD into install exit to shell fsck primary linux part(hda2?) - if that's usable go on, if not your DOA-SOL make mount point ( I use /tmp/root or t
