Drivers for ipw2200 are in Kernel since 2.6.14, so this step should not
be needed. For me all I had to dowas copy the firmware to /li

I finally found the solution. I'm running kernel 2.6.23 because 2.6.20

booted with the Debian kernel 2.6.22 and 3D apps run well with fglrx.

Don't know if they changes that in the meantime.

It's on <http://ipw
Are you looking for WLAN adapters that work easily with linux? I am working
with an adapter based on Ralink's rt2500 chipset (they are pretty common, I
am sure you will be able to find a specific device with it). Getting it to
work was as easy as "module-assistant auto-install rt2500" (using the

Yes, it is part of that package. Description from man page

and exit alsamixer. Afterwards, your modem should be able to connect.
At least this solution worked for me on an IBM ThinkPad R32 (2658BQG).
If you want to automate this, you can put a call to amixer into your
dial-scripts, or into the slmodem-startup-scripts... but I fo
I don't believe you have to use anything besides what wireless-tools provides
for every card.
I am using WPA with my ralink based card with the following entry
in /etc/network/interfaces:
iface eth1 inet dhcp
pre-up ifconfig eth1 up
pre-up iwpriv eth1 set AuthMode=WPAPSK
If it doesn't show up more than the critical trip point, your system probably
does not support more than the "critical" shutdown. This could mean that your
fans are hardware controlled. I don't know if it can also mean, that the
Linux ACPI drivers are not working for your system yet.
I have the
I guess he means the driver saying which kind of cpu-frequency-scaling to use.
E. g. I have an AMD Turion processor, so I use powernow_k8. I don't know
which processor you have and which module corresponds to it.

Could the kernel you are using have been compiled with a different compiler
then the modules you are trying to modprobe?
Look at $modinfo ath_pci
There should be a line like the following:
vermagic: 2.6.12-1-amd64-k8 gcc-4.0
telling you for which kernel headers and with which compil

Hi Bruno,
do you know apt-cache(8)?
% apt-cache search wireless monitor
airsnort - WLAN sniffer

kismet - Wireless 802.11b monitoring tool

I don't understand what you mean by that.
Which steps do you take for connecting your Wifi card to the network?
For me, it looks similar to the following:
modprobe rt2500 # rt2500 or whatever your wireless module is
iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
Hi
I have gone through this as well, and got a lot of feedback from this forum,
and I also included all info on my website, so you might get some ideas from
there..

If you have any addition to the site, just let me know.

Well, partly that is what I want to find out. Some of the reasons:
1. Suspend2 on AMD64 works only with the latest release, which is obvio
self (of course
still with make-kpkg).
As this is not a production server, but my personal laptop, and I do backup my
data once in a while, I don't mind experimenting.
Thanks for your advice though, Frank

Are they already included in MM or do I have to apply them additionally? And
in which order should I apply them, as they are supposed to be against the
vanilla kernel?
Thanks for any hints,
Frank

Does anyone know how to get the CD working on that specific Laptop?
I’ve tried following boot parameter: „linux
noapic nolapic acpi=off vga=771 pci=noacpi“.
Thanks

Hi
I am sure this isnt a thread that will make people happy, but here it is
anyways. I need some of my emails on a Windoze box, so I need to convert it
so that Outlook Express can convert it. I have my emails in two computers.
One has KMAIL so it is in Maildir format, and the other uses Sylphee
