most up-to-date translations, pulling from maintainer's VCS repo if
necessary.
However, the stats for dpkg translation seems to be outdated. I know
that simplified Chinese (zh_CN) is updated in 1.1

I have two issues about translation for aptitude. I figure I'll ask
here first, and if most translators agree with me, I'll file bugs
against aptitude. They are mostly related to CJK languages, but I
suppose many other non-Latin languages would be interested as well,
especially issue #1.

I never understood this Plural-Forms thing about gettext (mainly because
we Chinese don't have any plural form whatsoever :-). But I still see
such things in PO files, and I've never dare to touch them, fearing that
