ut line in those cases for some reason... no matter if
it is ssh vs rsh, or tcsh vs bash
and in the case with hostname it seems that command line parameter is
not provided. Am I doing something wrong? Where to look for help/bug
fix?

IIRC amd64 is the 2nd most popular architecture, and most of the people
use proposed-updates, I just wonder if there is any workaround, or when
the issue gets resolved.
