I suspect iproute is letting us doing things with the networking that

The password expiery is only active if you've checked the box in the shadow
settings. The default value is calculated now + 7 days, but it is not active.
I can't consider this beeing a bug.

When I start X session, I can't switch to terminals by CTRL+ALT+F1 etc.
When I try to switch to a terminal, my LCD stays dark.
Switching back to the X-session works.

Confirming that this problem with "user = mysql" in my.cnf still exists
in version 5.0.41. Yow, it has taken me many days to find why mysqld
hangs on start up and when trying to shut down.
Upstream says in http://bugs.mysql.c
Upgrading the kernel to 2.6.21 seems to have fixed this.
