I have been talking to some peoples over IRC this afternoon.
It's now clear that the invalid timestamps is due to a compile
option. I removed the --enable-integer-datetimes options from
the debian/rules file, rebuild everything and the odd timestamp
with a invalid timezone is no longer there.
