I have been talking to some peoples over IRC this afternoon. It's now clear that the invalid timestamps is due to a compile option. I removed the --enable-integer-datetimes options from the debian/rules file, rebuild everything and the odd timestamp with a invalid timezone is no longer there.
I'll do some more testing and ask François (the guy that find that out in the first place) to do some testing too. I'll send another email to the BTS soon to sum up everything.
