Just a reminder that I do not know of recent successful installation reports for many of our architectures. Without such a report, or someone telling me whether an architecture is ready to be released or not, I have to assume that it is not ready. Currently, I'm only sure about i386 and m68k (mac).

Take a look at bug #237169. Does this not look very similar to the problems you've been having with kernel install on sparc? Since debootstrap is run in a quite robust way and will display an error if it fails, I suspect that this guy also ran into a crash somewhere in the pick_kernel logic. And of
