There were no network modules loaded according to lsmod... I tried putting in a second NIC card (Linksys 100Tx version 5.1)
Then on the Detecting hardware screen, an error occured while try to load the network modules. "Error while running 'modprobe -v dmfe'" Removing the Linksys card prevents the error from happening, but also doesn't load the network mods. ps. the on board network card is enabled in the bios, and according to the bios it is a "Broadcom Lan Device".. The book for the motherboard says the driver is "Davicom Onboard Lan Driver" and of course provides the win drivers only. Thanks, Steve.
