I’d like to go to DebConf and DebCamp by land, not only because of
ecological reasons, but also because I’m sure it could be quite fun if
we travel together. I’ll be leaving from Stuttgart or Karlsruhe, but one
could meet, for example, in Paris.

it seems the cheapest way to get to London from Germany is the combined
German night train / Euro-Star ticket. From Stuttgart it is less than
100€ on way per person. Tickets are sold 3 months in advance and you got
to be fast, I guess.
