Hmm, in Germany they have devices that at least read the BahnCard, I
would not be surprised if they can also read credit cards. Haven’t tried
though :-)

Will do, although for that I yet need to find out (didn’t try yet) the
maximum of the possible prices of either bus or train, so that I don’t
have too much HRK afterwards.
