I agree with Dimitri. You would not think of switching off
"real-time-processing" if your graphics card would be properly
customized. Choosing the appropriate driver is not so difficult, there
are lists in the internet. And there are forums with tips for
configuration of different hardware conf
It seems that the video is treated by the cpu... I do the same as you on a
laptop & desktop (ubuntu studio & nvidia driver) the cpu is used by 8% max,
the gpu a lot more. You had an installation's problem, i think. Ubuntu
studio need some tweaks to work correctly.

Thanks, but I'm ok with my setup right now. I tried installing nv- drivers
and i just had problems. Maybe when I setup a new computer I will try again.
but for my original topic, I am just interested in the process on why there

I had a laptop with a gforce gt740. If i remember correctly, you need the
340 driver + nvidia-prime, if it's a hybrid card
(use "lspci | egrep 'VGA|3D' in a terminal) & in the nvidia settings, you
can choose between the intel & the nvidia gpu.

OK, understood. As far as I remember OpenCL cannot be enabled with intel

Without any information about the hardware you are using it is difficult
to give you an estimation. Which CPU ? How much cores ? Is a GPU
available, if so : which GPU / Graphics Card ? Have you OpenCL enabled
in dt settings ?
For comparison : on my system (CPU with 6 cores, Hyperthreading), Nv
Hello Darktable dev community !

I see that whenever I move/resize the crop frame, the CPU process gets
really busy. Usually this
causes my computer to hang specially if many modules are already enabled.
