At a guess your small script (that works) doesn't use `Fcntl' while your
larger script does. So, rebase'ing might help here as it does look
similar.

There were problems keeping Apache going up until present Cygwin (1.5). It was
fixed before the 1.5.0-1 (test) release,
all daemons (take inetutils for example) utilise

`info libc' from a cygwin shell. Not every single thing is documented, you
should get what you need.
BTW, this isn't how to program for linux on windows or any other combination of
the two systems, it's merely the API docs for the C library (in this case
Cygwin/Newlib).
. Make sure to shut down all Cygwin processes
(including services started via cygrunsrv) before running rebaseall.
You might want to drop magick-users on any follow-ups as this is a Cygwin issue
not an ImageMagick issue, though I've kept them in the CC for clarity.

want to discuss this further, please do so in private.

to do is subscribe to the list. There's not much we
can do about it, especially when taking the mere number of subscribers into
account.
I must mention that Cygwin + SpamAssassin == 99.9% spam free. :-)
