I will be winterizing indigo tomorrow. I am looking for help from this amazing group on techniques used to change the oil filter while minimizing drips and spills. I don't seem to be able to get the old filter off without dripping oil down the side of the engine. What am I doing wrong? -- Jona

Oil dripping down the side indicates that you are doing it right! Seriously though, there is no way to prevent it. I take a lightly used absorbent pad from under the engine and place it under the filter. If I'm quick i can usually minimize the mess. An aftermarket oil filter relocator kit would

I asked this same question about two years ago and tried both techniques. I found for myself that stuffing an absorbent pad around the filter was the best and least messy solution.
