Haven't seen much traffic the last few days. It was 9 F this a.m. in
Annapolis! School was delyed 2 hours so the little rugrats wouldn't freeze
at the bus stop.

Got to zero here in STL with a -15 wind chill; hate to hear Fred's tales of woe.

Here's a cold day topic ...
I am aiming to compete in the 2015 Bermuda 1-2 race in my vintage C&C 33-1.

Official temp was -28C ( -18.4F ) last night. That is not the "wind chill".
The house outside thermometer registered -30C ( -22F ) around midnight.
I am about 100 km north of Toronto. We may see a few days around -30F
in the winter, rarely may see something closer to -40.
Better so far compared to
I'll jump on that offer! You may want to check the cost of re certifying a

David,
Sounds awesome! I know a C&C 41 that does the race regularly. Vane Bros.
in Baltimore charges $500 for a raft for a month, but transporting it may
make it cost prohibitive.

It was 12 facking degrees this morning. Boat cabin temp was 34 this morning at
sunrise and is now up to 46 and that is with the heater going at 500 watts. My
car started right up but it was not going to be shifting gears very easily
until it ran for a bit.

I too am in the same boat (raft?).
We are doing the Marion-Bermuda Race again this year and I checked on rentals
as we have done in the past.

Although an open-ended offer to re-certify would probably be as much as renting
I am open to discussion if anybody else has any id
David,
Too bad your race starts the day after the return leg of my race begins --
we could have worked-out a deal.

Actually, I’ve been in southern Illinois (Marion, flying through St Louis…) for
the last week or so for work; it was about the same here this morning (+3F) as
it was in Minneapolis.
Not very good sailing weather, although the wind has been pretty good… :^)

I actually have been out on a windy 19 degree night. Constant supply of hot

Back in the 80's I was crewing on a J-24 practicing for the early spring Suma
Cup regatta in Kobe Japan. It was a cold winter day in the PNW with daytime
temps in the teens.
We pulled the J-24 trailer up to one of Shilshole Bay Marina's bathroom
buildings and ran a hose to the hot water supply

That boat is on Yachtworld. It has the normal layout that I like, not the
giant table in the bow version I don’t care for as much. (YMMV depending on how
many you sail with).
The new-ish engine seems like a nice thing to have.

It went down to 14 F last night in the Atlanta area. That's in pretty
sharp contrast with the 65 or so we had this past weekend.
A couple days ago one of the members of my club posted that 2 local boats
sunk last year due to engine / trans casings cracking from freezing and
