Is there a specific format to the 70s C&C hull numbers?
Mine is 330100874000 (the trailing zeros may be inserted by the state)
My assumption of course is that the first two digits are length and the 74
is the year of manufacture.

According to this site the MIC for C&C Yachts Ltd is ZCC.
This must not be my hull number but some other number used to identify the
boat for the state. It is not my registration number. I'll have to go look
for the correct number on the hull.

C&C MIC changed when they opened the second plant in Middletown, RI. All
C&C boats prior to that opening were MIC=CCY. After the Middletown
plant went into operation, Middletown became CCY, and Canadian C&C's
switched to ZCC. The change occurred in February 1976. A 1974 boat,

My 1989 C&C 30 MKII has rod rigging and a baby stay. Above the deck, the baby
stay is wire rope, unlike the rest of the rigging. Below the deck, in the

that is attached to the stringers under the cabin sole.

I would loosen the baby stay before releasing the tension on the rod,
otherwise all the force is on the deck itself. My babystay is on a track,
so I released the line and moved the car back.
I was able to simply unbolt the plate that holds the rod to the bottom of
the deck without adjusting the tu
Just a thought, and I 're- made my floor boards this winter,is to make a slit
all the way the the edge so you can remove without taking it out. On my boat
it is pretty close to edge. I could send you photo.
Why? What if you need to get to that area quickly?

Thanks, Bill. I actually did contemplate a slit and, as I think about it, that
is probably the way to go. Did you do anything special with the floor board

Hey folks,
Are there any C&C 115 owners out there who cruise shorthanded? We have a
crew on race night but we like to cruise our boats as well. We are currently
racing our Catalina 30. We do pretty well until the wind drop down to 4, 5,
6 knots. So I am also wondering how the 115 does in light
David,
Absolutely positively the C&C 37+ is not a light-air boat. But, yes,
the interior accommodations more than make up for it.
And yes, with more than 10 she sails very well. This past Saturday, we
sailed with the jib only in 15 and were above 8 knots in speed (or, as we say
Can't help on the 115 but our 121 is great in light air. Flat water and 10
knots appar = 7+ knots of boat speed on most points. I would expect the 115 to
be at least as good. Polars for the 121 are on my site under resources.

Yesterday, it was pretty sporty on the lake with winds in the upper teens,

Back in the 80's I was asked by a sailmaker to train a client's foredeck crew.
We headed out for a short local race, got a decent start, and had the windward

the boat aground in soft sand/mud on a falling tide. When
One of the the things I love about my 40 is how well she sails in light air.
She lives. On a mooring and it's hard to keep the batteries charged. Because
even in the lightest air we can sail on and off...as we did last night at sunset

I was able to get my broken key out with the broken piece and a little bit of
superglue.
I did not want this to happen again, so I cut most of the spare key off,
drilled a little hole through it and put a small ring through it. Now, nothing
sticks out, I just pull the ring up to rotate it.

I do not have particular expierience with "light air" boats but would have
generally said that the 37+ was one. A rule of thumb I use is that boat
speed should be about half of apparent wind speed while closehulled, up to
14 knots. Above that we should start working to flatten the boat but can
