To be more exact, in our case it is a "U"shaped bracket that is bolted down
to the metal mast step. The tangs of this bracket stick up about 8". The
mast slips over this when the mast is set into the boat, so the bracket is

This has come up before. I think the best advice (not mine) was to put a
socket slightly smaller than the shaft against the end of the shaft and
tighten the bolts on the coupling to force out the shaft.

The header on all list emails has been change to “via cnc-list”. It is a fix
in our software that circumvents Yahoo’s DMARC installation.
So far it is working. Since the change, we have not had 1 subscriber bounced –
including those with Yahoo accounts.

Can be a tough job. On Windburn I pulled the shaft a couple of years ago ensure
it could be removed in the water if it every was required.
On my C&C 30-1 the dimensions are:

a word of caution – be very careful with how you tighten the nuts. It never
happened to me, but I read of people who managed to deform the coupling (on the
transmission) in the process.

Not THAT kind - the kind that had tubes and was a transceiver. They transmitted
AM between 2 and 3 MHz. I think they were technically illegal when we did that
trip, but the USCG still monitored 2182 KHz. I think even to this day marine
SSB sets have an AM equivalent mode for 2182 even though the

2) Cutting the old coupling off is the quickest method and you should do
