Wondering what you guys use to clean and lighten interior teak? Heard lots
about the finish (my 1985 35-3 seems to have some traces of ancient
oiled-wood finish, does not appear to be varnished.) My teak is rather
light, and would like to keep it that way. No teak mine look for
me...anyone have
Hmm. Actually I said most, but could be wrong since I have not seen most. :)
So.. Let me amend: the most durable and least problematic that I have seen were
varnished, including mine.
Now I'm in trouble

Mine seems to only have a hand rubbed oil finish as well. The table has a
poly finish but that was certainly performed by the PO.

Actually, my previous boat (1981 30mkI) was NOT varnished, just oiled. My 1979
LF38 was varnished, but I think it might have been done (or certainly redone)
by the previous owner; I can't believe the factory would have sent out a
varnish job that looked like that... So I don't think it's fair
For *interior* wood oil I would recommend 'Liquid Gold.'

I've stayed away from it down below. I do use teak products for the wood (as

For the interiors, as Rich says, the wood is already in great shape. We

I'm curious why one would go to all the bother of prepping the interior wood
for a coat of whatever and choose anything other than a good quality flat or
rubbed finish varnish. The interiors of most of our boats were varnished at the
factory, and, after 20 or 30 years still look very good. Oil f

I used Deks last year. The wood had not been treated in years so it soaked
it in. I need to reapply. It gave the wood a rich glow until it disappeared

Guys I read a thread a few months ago about interior teak finishing and the
thread spoke of a product called Burma Teak Oil (BTO) which apparently doesn't
mildew/turn dark as tung oil will after a while. Any one using this stuff now?
I searched online and could not find it anywhere.
