Went to the boat today with a borrowed transducer to do some testing turned on the power and the depth worked perfectly. I don't know what to think I guess I'll  just keep an eye on it. Could the bottom be so soft there was no return signal or did the unit just know that surgery was imminent? Ga

My 30-2 has the welded top plate as well.  I bit the bullet and removed the chain plates and rebedded last year.  On my boat, there is just no place to put sealant on that joint where it will actually seal anything. Even havin

Same. The deck on my 1972 30 MK I is cored. The offseason before last I removed the chainplates, dug out a good half-inch of core around the cutout, and refilled with epoxy with the chainplate in place, making a tight-fitting epoxy “donut” around the cutout and chainplate (of course I used a r

Dave, I think the word you are looking for is ARGH! Sorry I couldn’t be more help. It looks like C&C did the chain plate differently depending on the year & model. Neil From: CnC-List On Behalf Of Dave Godwin via CnC-List Sent: Saturday, May 5, 2018 10:47 AM To: cnc-list@cnc-lis

As a data point for others, the chainplate cut-out on my 1982 37’ goes through cored deck. Josh’s concern is correctly placed. Best, Dave Godwin 1982 C&C 37 - Ronin Reedville - Chesapeake Bay Ronin’s Overdue Refit > On May 5, 2018, at 10:44 AM, Josh Muckley vi

Neil, Those are great informative videos but unfortunately they don’t address the problem that both I and Chuck had/have. In both of those videos the top plate can be unbolted and lifted of, allowing access to the cut-outf. On our boats, that top plate is welded to, in my case, a massive single

I think the most correct way is to remove the chain plate and then rebed. I'd be torn between using butyl and 4200. You can support the mast with a halyard if desired. First, you might find is useful to determine if it is the machine screws/bolts or the flange specifically. A little tightening o

Looks like a slightly updated version of the fuse panel on my old 34. I suspect that those screws are the only thing holding panels in. If it’s like the 34, you’ll also find a deck scupper and drain hose behind the panel (which was unbelievable to me). From: Tim Rutherford via CnC-List Sent:

Unfortunately you probably don’t want to know. I suspect boats prior to 1988 also have the same type of heli-arc’d plate permanently affixed to the chainplate. I just finished up re-installing mine a couple of weeks ago and it involved 14 1/2” bolts per chainplate, 3 loose aluminum plates (wait
