Hold on there...you have to follow list protocol. The members of
the 34/37+ subgroup have to give their approval of any related purchases...
So, what boat where? Or just post a link here -->

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to thank you all for your thoughts, insights and photos. They have
been invaluable.
I'm really looking forward with hope that the boat passes its survey with
flying colors!

On my previous boat, an Ericson 30, I replaced a two-bladed fixed prop with
a two-bladed Martec, non-geared folding prop. It worked fine, but after
many years, it didn't always open all the way, and I had to put the engine
in reverse, and then forward to get the blades to open. For the best

My previous post, I think, agrees adjust-ability is an important
parameter in the selection of a propeller. Just not the only one.

I agree that the Max-Prop is considerably more expensive. The PO
improperly adjusted mine. But that improper adjustment could have just as
easily been an improper selection of pitch on a fixed pitch prop. Then I
would have had no choice but to replace it. Being adjustable I was able to

Gary,
You are correct. The Flex-O-Fold prop is geared and no orientation is
necessary.

Josh,
I have only owned two brands of propellers (Max-Prop and
Flex-O-Fold). I can say they are both quality products. As a person who
bought a new boat that had the wrong pitch Flex-O-Fold propeller, I can say
that adjust-ability could have saved me a LOT of money. That being said,

Gary makes the comment regarding getting the right pitch. I have little
experience with anything other than a Max-Prop but I can't advocate
strongly enough for the versatility of being able to adjust the pitch. It
blows my mind that selecting a prop based on calculations works for so many
people.
I disagree. The fact that the blades are geared to each other means that the
blade that would normally drop is being held up by the blade which is on
top. If it quits raining I'll go and prove it.

I replaced the Martec on my 35-3 many years ago with a Flex-0-Fold 2
blade. Absolutely no complaints drives the boat very well. The only
issue worth mentioning is you need to mark your prop shaft to note when
the blades are at the 9 & 3 position when racing. otherwise, one blade
may flop ope
Flex-O-Fold is rated very highly compared to other props. Yachting Monthly
rated them below:

I have a 3 blade Flex-O-Fold prop. Make sure you get the right pitch and
diameter.

Hi Chuck
I just purchased a 2 blade Flex-o-fold from the manufacturer in Denmark. It
replaces a Martec Eliptec RH16DX14P for our Yanmar 3GM30F on our Frers 33.
Pricing was just over $1600 Canadian shipped to our door. We were hit up
another $242 at the door by the courier to cover provincial
