It sounds like 200 lbs. of beer in the galley might just solve your problem.
But seriously, equipment added can cause balance problems. Be sure of your

And it might just be the screens. When I have a good dock hose
available, I'll stick the hose right up against the vent on the outside
and push water back down the vent line. It blows any salt buildup off
the screens. I've also noted that the screens will turn green and
crusty just from the

David;
The vent for your holding tank will be a plastic, zinc, or stainless hooded
vent like the ones for your fuel tank and water tank(s). You will probably
find it just under the toe rail on the side of your boat above/ near where
the holding tank is located. On both of my boats, the vent is
If I'm not mistaken, Holland Marine used to be a Canadian Seacraft dealer.
They are too far away to look at the grid in your boat, but they may be able
to identify the yard in your area that was the CS dealer. They could look at
the boat and give you advice before you close your deal.

Bob,
Had mechanic out looking at the engine - he checked motor mounts
for me and said all looked good. Also commented that the engine
was running pretty smoothly.

IMHO too many good boats out there at low prices to consider any boats with
any inkling of structural damage.

It's not the 30, but my brother has had a CS 40 for over ten years on the Great

Sure - but just to be clear to everyone, the lessons are not free- we just do
not require club membership to take them.

I initially was dismayed at the discontinuation of printed charts. I have a
couple of hundred of them covering most of the coast from Penobscott Bay to
Florida. I have them segregated by state or area for access. But as I thought
about it, that’s a lot to store on the boat (I use a large diamete
Toilet rebuilds are not fun but not difficult. It takes me about two hours
for a total stripdown and rebuild on my Raritan PHII. What model toilet? If
it's a Jabsco it might be easier to just replace it. If it's just replacing
the joker valve, that's a ten-minute job.

I have heard it is common practice, but in my view if your toilet is
maintained so it works as designed and the user is paying attention and you
are using the right toilet paper, you should be able to flush the paper
with no problems. I have never had a paper jam but I am meticulous on
maintenance.
Thanks for all the tips. Jocker valve makes sense. I will likely try the lube idea before rebuilding, but I need to pull out the manual and see how challenging the rebuild would be. As to the vent, I think I can get to the bottom of the vent line fairly easily. I doubt I can reach the other end
Like I said, our club does NOT require membership fees to take sailing lessons.
If you do want to join, it is $500 first year, $250/yr after that, and your
kids can use the boats for FREE when they aren't out on lessons.
Maybe we are too cheap and need to charge more

So is the focus on young people in particular or sailing in general? I suspect
there are more sailors today than ever before. Our proportion to power boaters
may continue to decline but total number of sailors is likely up.
As to young people we may not see them as they are involved in sailing
JimI believe the numerous smaller ports on the CS boats open. Ventilation is a nice featureOur last boat had the window layout same as c&c 27 and 30. 35 inch aluminum framed window in main cabin and 12 inch one forward. Replaced the small ports with opening ports and it was a huge difference.Mike
Lots of people refuse to allow toilet paper, or anything else that wasn't eaten
first, to be flushed through the head. You
obviously don't agree with that practice but I'm surprised that you think it
unusual. Not a piece of equipment I would want to
repair at sea.
