Race. The race starts at the mouth of the Columbia River at Astoria, Oregon,
and finishes inside the harbor at Victoria, BC. Two C&C's are entered: Cool
Change, a C&C Landfall 38, hull number 1, skippered by Frank Nor
If you're going to run aground so much, you might want to consider cheaper
batteries and a set of training wheels. ; )

My radio is wired direct to the battery (with a fuse). No problems in 12
years of operation. Frankly, I'm surprised the radio still works! I would
like to replace it so I can have one with a aux jack for my XM radio. The
FM converter ain't the best.

Ever left a car unstated for a few weeks? Same thing. Memory retain wire is
always hot. Car clock is always hot. Not enough power usage to measure.

batteries that are rather dated, they hold up fine. Don't sweat it. Hard

If you read about batteries, charging (and discharging) you will probably find
that starting from "Both" is not the preferred option.
Switching the batteries when the motor is running (or rather, when the
alternator is charging) may not be a good idea, but it depends on your switch.

The Canadain Tire deep cycle batteries are Exide.
I have had better luck with them than you.
Same for the Interstate deep cycle.

I've never had a problem with current draw from the "memory" circuit in my
stereo. Usually, the current draw is in the uA (I think). Consider the
fact, that a car might be parked for a couple of weeks while someone goes
on vacation, and there little to worry about when he returns.

FYI our local Sams Club has rebadged DEKA AGM batteries selling with an
Energizer label. They are Group 27s and are under $200 if memory serves. They
also have a wet cell 4D for around $160. My AGM 4D at West Marine is now around
$600 (OUCH).
