Hi there, I just put the freshest debian on an old test machine this week.
I had problems with it with in virtual machine for some reason, just
couldn't get it to work. Installed nicely so now I can play with it.
I have to say I am a fan of Ubuntu, it was my first taste so I guess that
is why.

Hello all, just wondering if the meeting is happening tonight? I finally
have a window to make it.
Thanks

I would love to attend regardless of the topic. Would have liked to learn
more about kali linux. I tried using the raspberry pi kali image but had a
few issues.

As always I would like to attend one if something doesn't conspire against
my attempt.

Thanks for sharing that Greg, it is great stuff.

Just curious, how many members do you guys have? Also, I am wondering what
particular reason you chose Wednesday nights at 6 for the meetings (I think
its 6 or 6:30). I know there is never a perfect time and place but is
always too early for me to come to one. I would hate to miss ever being

You can't go wrong with Ubuntu LTS. I got my wife of Mac onto it and no
problems. Updating is fine, I have done the distribution upgrade twice now
and it is very smooth.
I only wish I could say the same for fedora!

Thanks again for organising the meeting last night, it was great to finally
get out to one! I am hoping there is a way to continue the group, there
seemed to be some solid interest in keeping it going.
For my part I am a relatively new user. I am taking some networking courses

Why not come along Ian, I was/am in your boat anyway. The last meeting was

Hello all CLUG members. I wanted to mention that 7 of us showed up
tonight for the second attempt at the AGM. We all hope that we can meet
again next month.
Unfortunately, the only executive member that made it out was Winston.
There was a good deal of disappointment that nothing could be resolved
Unfortunately I can't make it. I have class @ Sait on Tue & Thr nights.
Good luck.
I'm guessing there is still a meeting tentatively scheduled on the 7th May?
Will people be able to join up at that (AGM-3)?
Do we have any official candidates for the roles that need to be filled on
the exec? There
What does that even mean?

You have picked a challenge there I think. One I haven't had to solve yet
so I am hoping you'll let us know what works for when that day comes.
Here are a few of the best looking guides I found. I suspect you have
already seen them but just in case.

I had some luck with ddrescue in the past. I don't know if it would work in
this case though.

Take a look at ipfire. I believe it is the current equivalent of ipcop. It
worked nicely for me. Lots of features and very actively developed.

Hi there, I'm wondering if the issue is because you have two network cards
on the same subnet.

In a word clonezilla. You should be able to make a clone of your current

a smaller drive.

Loads of information online about how to do what :)

Hi there, it looks like you got some excellent hardware advice. I just

You could try https://certification.ubuntu.com/certification/desktop/
But I would take a bootable USB to memory express or somewhere and test
