installing 'kernel-image-2.4.25-1-686' I still get them. If it is not a kernel clash, it must be a debian packaging issue. At the moment I get video but not audio on working Mplayer links. Fixing this depends on a successful alsa-modules install. This must be a simple maintainer fix.
