I've posted a few times about the Tascam US428. I believe I have it
working to some degree after a series of upgrades- Fedora core 1, ALSA
1.0.2b. It shows up in /proc/asound/cards and there are several entries
in /proc/asound/USX2Y. I believe my problem is more of a general one:

I've run into the same thing with Gentoo, but even (possibly) a bit more
difficult. Gentoo upgraded Alsa in this kernel to 1.0.0rc2 and now the
Alsa.org patches don't work at all. I wish the Gentoo emerge for Alsa was
smart enough to handle placing the newest releases in the right place for
2.6 ke
