I also see another problem: If the Quattro drivers for Win and Mac are
written under the assumption, that you could use non-standard alt
settings numbering, then I suppose changing the numbering to "how we
would like it" would require possibly major changes in the Quattro
drivers for the other operating systems, and would M-Audio do that? 

Does someone know which devices are hit by this? I know of the
Quattro, and I heard the same about the Audiophile USB, but 
Transit, Sonica and Mobile Pre are clean.
