Hi folks -
Logitech USB Headset in use on Redhat Kernel 2.6.1 build (with its native
Alsa). Seeing a lot of these errors in /var/log/messages, prompted by
seeking around in mplayer, or pausing.

Hi:
I'm archiving my DVDs to Vorbis files, and now I want
to hook up an older machine (PII) to my stereo, and
play stuff using zinf or mplayer (or anything else you
recommend).
I've googled on this, but I find more problems than
answers.
I want:
1.) High quality sound
2.) S/P DIF digital output
Hi,
Try the latest CVS version, I think it'll fix your problem. I had the
same problem on 2.4.18-ck4. Hope this helps!

How frequently will the drivers in the kernel be sync'ed with the current alsa
stable release? Is there a patch available for patching 2.6.1 to alsa 1.0.2?

Hi all,
I have recently updated the kernel (2.4.21-166) and reinstalled Alsa,

even use XQF's "Stop XMMS song before playing" feature, nice.

I have an Audigy2 NX working under ALSA 1.0.2 (the latest 1.0.2 :), but it
is of course slightly imperfect in how it's controlled. Here are some
issues:
1. alsamixer is very confusing, with redundant labels (lots of "Speaker 2"
settings). Lots of trial and error to control the volume, but there

Hi!
I've got a delta 1010lt running. I use 0.9.5. If you choose the next release
after mine, you should get it working. Takashi did a realtime fix on that
one... :-)
I hope it works out for you!
Kindest regards

Hi,
I get total system lockups using the ALSA 0.9.0rc6 snd-ice1712 driver
for my Delta66 card. I filed a bug report (bug_id=012) on the

I'm using 0.9.0rc6 because I can't get the ALSA 1.0.2 module to load

Yes, I meant optical, my mistake, as I do understand
that is the meaning of the "D" in S/P-DIF.
So do all the Soundblaster models with a TOS link work
well using the optical output? Any experiences to
report out there?
I read some messages to them effect that some features
work and others don't

I'm running Redhat 9 and I've just compiled a new kernel 2.6.1, but I
can't get ALSA modules to load. I have compiled the 0.9.7 drivers that
came with the 2.6.1 kernel. My sound card is a intel8x0. I ran alsaconf
and it detected my sound card and modified /etc/modprobe.conf to include
this:

Hi,
What is the best way to capture sound tracks from a DVD and write them to a CD? What
tools do I
need? I am running kernel 2.6.1-mm5 with ALSA 1.0.1 and my
AC97 driver is working in OSS emulation mode (I have Asus P4P800 Deluxe mobo). I can

YOu do NOT copy CDs by playing them through a soundcard. You do it by
copying them directly to disk, using the cdrom drive on y
Hi,
I have an iBook 2.2 and using powermac snapper I get very quiet sound
from the speakers and fairly quiet sound from the headphones. I have
changed all the different channels with alsamixer to no effect.
Here is amixer:

That looks like a terrific device. I just realized an
error on my part... I was hoping for /digital/ SPDIF
output, so as to avoid any problem with ground loops
between the PC and my amplifier.
Yes, I seem picky, but maybe something is out there.
Thanks

Hi,
I'm thinking of finally hooking my linux box with all
my Vorbis files to my stereo, so I'm researching my
options.
What is a well regarded soundcard, that works well
under ALSA, under $200.00 using S/P-DIF output, that
deals well with digitized audio in ogg and mp3 format

Hi,
I can't get the ALSA 1.0.2 driver to load into my 2.4.16 kernel. It
complains about the unresolved symbol "sound_class".
Before I start getting dirty recompiling my kernel (it's been a long
time since I last did that and there's a risk the .config and/or the
patches have changed since then) I
