Firstly I would like to say thanks to the people behind the ALSA project.
For months I have been fighting with hacked OSS USB-Audio drivers under a
2.4.X kernel trying to get my Extigy to work.
I managed to get my Extigy to work this morning using the ALSA USB-Audio

I've setup the OSS application with the same manor, it requests a recording
device, recording mixer, playback device, playback recorder.
