Hi !

Not sure wether this is the proper forum to ask this question, but
here I go anyway -- any help or pointer where to ask appreciated.

I'm trying to use a RME Hammerfall DSP under SuSE Linux 9.0.
Kernel is 2.4.21-144-default (updated today).

My system is a dualboot notebook (Dell Inspiron 5150). Under WinXP Home
the Hammerfall works just nicely. Now I'd like to use it under Linux.

I have downloaded the complete suite for alsa 1.0.0pre3 and built
it by running
./configure (added "--with-sequencer=yes --with-debug=detect" for driver)
make
su
make install

in the directories
driver, lib, utils, oss, tools/hdsploader, firmware
in that order. Now errors or problems during install AFAICT.

During boot I get the following msg:
Starting sound driver: snd-hdsp
/lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/sound/pci/rme9652/snd-hdsp.o: init_module: No
such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO
or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/sound/pci/rme9652/snd-hdsp.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/sound/pci/rme9652/snd-hdsp.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/sound/pci/rme9652/snd-hdsp.o: insmod snd-hdsp
failed

When trying to insmod snd-hdsp I get:
mgd:/ # insmod snd-hdsp
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/sound/pci/rme9652/snd-hdsp.o
/lib/modules/2.4.21-144-default/kernel/sound/pci/rme9652/snd-hdsp.o: unresolved symbol

What is/could be the cause and how do I get this to work ?

Any help appreciated.

Best,
Michael
