I'm having lots of problems trying to get alsa to work VIA VT8235 SB.
I've tried alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc6, alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc8, and yesterdays
cvs snapshot.
At first I was getting this error, when I tried using aplay to play a
.wav file:
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:481:(snd_pcm_hw_drain) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_DRA

Hi everyone,
I have a Dell OEM SB Live!, a slightly custom sb live! that Dell has
been shipping since last October. I did some thorough checks before
trying to install the alsa driver and found that the alsa driver has
been updated to recognise this card (it is basically an sb live! with a

The Quattro doesn't have headphone outs, but, the outs it does have are
sufficiently powered to drive headphones. A two-mono-1/4"->stereo-1/4"
adapter connected to two outs should work fine if you need headphones.

Hi,
I changed the line with the free oss-portion to
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 (first it was snd-cs46xx)
I thought now with startting to hear this little plop usually a sign
that the card get intialised.

Hi Jeff,
i'm a bloody sound newbie so I can't tell much, but your problem seems similar
to the one I experienced. I have a Creat. Sb Audigy, at the moment I can't
tell which ALSA version is on my machine. Alsamixer didn't work, even if I
seleceted the right card with -c 1 (I have onboard sound,

Hello people,
when installing on slackware 8.1 alsa-driver-0.5.12a.
I get the following error:

Hi,
I can't see your problem from the data you provided but I have the same card
and it works great with alsa.
The difference to my config that I can see is that you are missing the snd
module. Here is my modules.conf:
# ALSA portion

Hi,
I somehow can't get any sound after installing the source rpm's from
freshrpms.net, version 0.9.0-fr0.rc8.1. I think I did it by the book,
but no sounds at all. I'm on redhat 8, card is terratec Xfire 1024.
Pretty stange detail, msi k7 master turbo, onboard sound of, linux still
finds it.
hi,
which one should I get ? I guess the maudio is supported pretty well in
current cvs + midi should be working ... anyone knows what the latencies
are like ? are the outputs loud enough to connect headphones ?
The emagic emi 2|6m would be a better choice for me since it offers a
minijack headph
hi,
I'm struggling getting alsa to work, that is sound in general with my
Xfire 1024. I'm on redhat 8 and using 0.9.0 version of alsa using
src.rpm's from freshrpms.net.
As far as I can see I did everything acording to manual at soundmatrix.
Still there is no sound at all. Card is doing fine u
hi,
i have problems setting up the soundcard mentioned in subject. there is a
driver for the cmi8738 - but the difference seems to be too big.
i added the following lines to the modules.conf:
# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-cmipci
