Hi everyone,

I have a Dell OEM SB Live!, a slightly custom sb live! that Dell has
been shipping since last October. I did some thorough checks before
trying to install the alsa driver and found that the alsa driver has
been updated to recognise this card (it is basically an sb live! with a
different pci-id).

So, after following the install instructions on the alsa site for an
sblive, everything seems to be installed and configured properly except
I can't hear anything! No matter what I try, I cannot get the card to
emit one single tone.

I have installed the alsa-driver, alsa-lib and alsa-utils packages,
modprobed all the new kernel modules, run the 'alsaconf' script in the
utils directory, which updated my modules.conf and set the mixer levels
to some standard levels, and still no joy.

I've loaded several mixer programs including alsamixer to make sure
things were as they should be, etc. Can't seem to figure it out. KDE
sees the sound card. I was recieving errors about anything to do with
sound at all before I installed the alsa driver, and now everything is
happy, but I ain't hearing anything! Everything is telling me it sees an
sb live but nothings working.

My system is:

RedHat 8 / Alsa 0.9.0rc8a / SB Live! (Dell OEM)

I would really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks in advance

Padraig Kitterick
