I have Slackware Linux 8.0 with a custom kernel. I downloaded alsa driver 0.5.12a,
alsa lib 0.5.10b and alsa utils 0.5.10 and installed all of them without any problems
and error messages. I added alsasound in my
rc.local. When I rebooted, I could only use cd audio (which I wasn't able to use
I just figured out a wordaround. It seems that the stable version of ALSA
(0.5.12a) doesn't have the problem.

Hello,
I posted this question last year about how to
use only sample rates supported directly by the hardware...

Hi,
This is a small Makefile to automate the generation of Alsa RPMs. It was
made in RHL 7.2 but there should be no problem with other distros.
I hope you find it interesting. Please feel free to contact me if you have
any problem or suggestions.

Hi,
I have a cmi 8738 card and would like to use the spdif in/out
features. The driver from cmi is not ready for this, so I downloaded
the last CVS version of alsa; 2002-01-11.tar.bz2, compiled it,
inserted the module trying "playback_spdif=yes" or "spdif_enable=yes"
with no success.

I have used alsa for awhile. It used to mostly work, and now it
mostly doesn't. I've moved through versions of the kernel and the
drivers; currently on Linux 2.4.17/Alsa 0.9.0beta10. It looks as if
the problem relates to pnp, but I haven't been able to fix it. I'd
appreciate any advice.
