I have Slackware Linux 8.0 with a custom kernel. I downloaded alsa driver 0.5.12a, alsa lib 0.5.10b and alsa utils 0.5.10 and installed all of them without any problems and error messages. I added alsasound in my rc.local. When I rebooted, I could only use cd audio (which I wasn't able to use before). I did 'lsmod' to check if all the modules were loaded and this is what i got.
snd-pcm-oss snd-pcm-plugin snd-mixer-oss snd-card-ymfpci snd-ymfpci snd-pcm snd-ac97-codec snd-mixer snd-opl3 snd-hwdep snd-timer snd-mpu401-uart snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd While I was playing the audio cd I used kmixer to unmute the card (which was also unavailable before) and it worked fine for cd audio, but Iwanted to try with amixer just in case and got this error message bash-2.05# amixer The ALSA sound driver was not detected in this system. bash-2.05# ./alsasound start ALSA driver is already running. bash-2.05# Also I got an error message when I first ran alsasound saying there was no alsa.conf, and something about 'no mixer installed' so I ran alsactl bash-2.05# alsactl store alsactl: No soundcards found... bash-2.05# Can anyone please give me some help with this problem. _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
