I have a SB Live! 5.1 and 5.1 surround sound speakers. The center
connector for the 5.1 surround sound doubles as the digital out for the
5.1 card... I was wondering if it's possible to enable 5.1 surround
sound without digital out, since digital out to my analog speakers just

I have looked around for a soundcard with 24bit/96kHz recording ability and
found this Terratec AudioSystem EWX 24/96 soundcard. The recording ability
from an analog input is my main concern and I haven't found info re. ALSA that
ensures me buying that card is a good investment :-)

Seems to be working fairly well for playback.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to
record with semblance of quality. I can "sort of"
record voice audio, and I can sort of record
my acoustic-electric guitar.

Just checked the model number CT4810 at the Creative Support Site and they
say my card is called Sound Blaster Ensoniq AudioPCI. Checked for a Linux
driver and they say no driver at present. The number on the main chip is
Creative CT5880 not ES. Does any one know more about this please?
