Is there a reference somewhere that describes which options are needed for
what on the MX204? I've been eyeing one for the edge for several months
now, and it's getting to the point where we probably need to pull the
trigger sooner rather than later.

I keep hearing edge, edge to me means the far edge of the network, the
core, well is the core.
What do you call the edge of the network when you are calling your core the
edge?

For the past 5-10 years they do not seem to be agreeable to that anymore. One
place told me it was due to tax implications.

Juniper released the MX204 under three different part names. As you can see in
the below table. The “IR” and “R” are only paper license.

In routers there are two terms for ISP's.

Crap, clicked send accidentally.
Edge routers are typically for your internet facing edge. This may or
may not be the same as your core router/switch. It looks like we're moving
toward a edge router, a shaper, then the core L3 switch.
The customer facing edge is called often called "distribut
So I've seen that, but that table confuses me.
Does that mean that the -IR doesn't include the 2 million FIB/6 million RIB
support? And the -R doesn't include either that or the VRF features?

Also, remember this is based on flat ground, if you have a slope away from
the airport, you'll find it is either higher or lower based on the relative
ground elevation.
The location of our main office/router/core is actually above the glide
slope, because the ground slopes up enough from the end o

Yeah, I agree it’s not clear.
-R is basically unlimited everything (no limitations on RIB/FIB). -IR from what
I recall was some sort of mix of the two. Base ticked all the boxes for us…

What percentage of rural customers would you all consider saturated?
I have access to some new datasets and it disturbing. It's good disturbing,
but unanticipated.
May be bad.
Is there a rural percentage of capture that is considered saturated as a
standard? 100 percent is what we all want. But
