The device probably doesn't have DNS. Just use an IP instead of the name...

needing the controller.

I think if you download an old controller version from before the EOL, you
can probably manage it. Go to:
https://www.ui.com/download/unifi/
Scroll down past the "Firmware" section to the "Software" section. Below
that, click the button that says "See Past Software". Controller versions
