I need to move our OS/390 ADSM to TSM 4.1 (especially since we called IBM
support for help with a client problem and they pretty much told us to come
back when we are running on a supported release of TSM, and not before
!!!).
I have tested running an UPGRADEDB on a small test ADSM. As before, it
dless of the database size.

Doing a FULL DB backup of our 15GB ADSM (yes, not TSM YET. Hoping to
convert to 4.1.3 RSN !!) server, sometimes takes 4-hours.

I just finished upgrading the OS/390 server from ADSM 3.1.2.50 to TSM
4.1.3. I was hoping the DB backup would be faster. Unfortunately, there is

command was too long for a 72-column "card".
What character is used to continue SQL commands onto subsequent lines ? I

We have a similar problem in a customer, the administrative web interface
was very slow,
and when we removed for the TSM server address to go thought the proxy,
the response time was much much faster.

We are having an adventure trying to configure a 3494 ATL and 3590-FC
drives to be used by TSM on an AIX server. Never having done this kind of
configuration before, we are having lots of issues and questions.
Existing configuration is a 3494 ATL with 6-3490 and 8-3590 ESCON attached

have been installed on these boxes. This is a brand new TSM AIX server
(5.1.1)
The owner of these boxes installed the clients she received on a CD set. I
told her to upgrade the main client to 5.1.1. The TDP hasn't changed
.1 and w2k.
Eventough I see mij 3590 drives on my scsi bus I cant define the drives
because of an I/O error.

If you check the ADSM-L archive (www.adsm.org), this is a common
problem/issue with older TSM clients and RedHat Linux clients that utilize
the EXT3/ReiserFS file system, i.e. V7.
The answer is to upgrade the client to V5.x or add VIRTUALMOUNTPOINT
statements to your DSM.SYS.

As far as I know TSM did always backup it's own logfile, unless you
explicitly tell it not to.
As for your exclude: change it into *:\WINNT\Profiles\...\*

The error seems to be valid, sort of, since we discovered that IE on this
box is V2 (yes, this isn't a typo.V2 !!!)

Thanks for the help.
I finally got ahold of the logs. There was an error about not being able
to delete a backup and to enable this option for the client. I did this
and hopefully should fix things.
