Hello Tim,
I think the %errorlevel% could help. A good backup gives a %errorlevl% equal to
0. You can execute a command for the ESP scheduler when this %errorlevel% is not
zero. If you need any help try "help if" on a DosBox.
More help needed, do not hesitate to maile me,

Sorry but I do not know ESP. Perhaps it is possible to send codes via a batch
specifying certain options. But this you have to figure out yourself.
The backup.cmd could look like this

What about:
defining a new deviceclass,
using this deviceclass in a new storage pool,
defining this storage pool as next stgpool for the old stgpool,
updating all copygroups to the new stgpool
lowering the migration levels of the old stgpool to hi=0 and lo=0
With this method all is done automatic

is this a bug?

I did receive almost the same request of our users and started some tests,
thinking that a daily backup and a yearly archive were the only possibilities.
But then I started thinking of using backupsets. Our users wanted to go a little
further and have a daily copy, a weekly copy, a monthly copy an
didi you check the state of the files on the server. I had the same thought that
there was a little bug but verifying again showed me that the files where
inactivated and that the RETO and VERD had to be set to 0.
