Hi Phillip,
You're absolutely right in you assertion : you effectively have to give
an answer for each ejected tape, but a simple shell script could make
your life much easier, like this one, that queries TSM server to find
out what reply it has to issue, and then responds with correct value.

Netscape 4.78 is 8-th modification of 4.7 (4.7.8). Version 4.7 is
unmodified (i.e. 4.7.0).
And if you look at Bonus Pack CDs which come with AIX 4.3.3 you will find
there both Netscape 4.7x (depends on release date of Bonus Pack) and JRE
1.3. They are ready for installation with smitty/installp.
There ought to be nothing special. Examine carefully the place where TR
"has a crossing" to Eth. TR is using larger MTU (4200 bytes by default,
max 17000+something).
- IP packet reassembly might have problems on TSM server side (IP packets
on 4200-byte TR frames will be fragmented to 1500-byte Eth

Hi fellow TSMers
Does anyone know if it is possible to un-register a license. I added one by

Thanks in advance

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to search the TSM database and find a
specific file and what server it existed on?
I have some legal requirements to restore a file and my admins don't know
what server it was on.

Use cron or the Windows scheduler service. There isn't any way to do it with
the TSM scheduler.
If you get an answer to this let me know, but we use the account log and
bring it into an SQL database base and create our own output.

How?
I don't mind being corrected, everyone knows I'm no "expert" at TSM. If your
going to correct me, at least show me the correct method.
Also, is a fileset the same as a filespace.
Thanks,

If you're not sure:
Start the client

Yes, Step 4 is to CYA. Tape isn't 100% foolproof for data retention, and
the closer you get to Forever, the less stable it will be, so having two

in the future.

I think that would work if your period is "4 Weeks" (or "28 Days") rather

after your schedule ran, it will be eligible to run again, sometime with

I should have added that the first thing I do when opening the WebAdmin is
open the command line with it. Do the same when I change the TCPPort for
diagnostic reasons. It has a few other good features, such as bringing a PATH

There's been some history of the TSM scheduler allocating then not freeing
memory; maybe try using managed services (with polling mode), so the
scheduler is periodically launched (and exits) from dsmcad... see the Using
Clients book.
Also, check your virtual memory settings; you may have so man

We installed a second instance of TSM today, and moved a drive over to the

1) Does the new instance have to have its own library, or can it share the
existing library. We currently have 2 TSM libraries a

be my minimum level recommendation for a 5.1 shop.
