The 4.12 Client has a bug, instead of reporting the proper error, it displays the User Abort message. APAR IC29368 addresses this. You have to check any other error logs on the client and server to try to determine what the real error is. The problem can range from no space in the storage pool

The network transfer rate is not particularly useful (see APAR IC30767), so don't use that to judge your TSM performance. If you want a reasonable idea of what how fast your TSM client can push data, your best bet is to do a selective backup of a very large file (say, several hundred or more MB),
