Hello Andy,
thanks for sharing that with us. It was a pleasure to read. There are many
information worth having a look at.
Thanks for your hint.

We have implemented TSM Client 6.4.0/TDP for Exchange 6.4.0 for Exchange 2010
(DAG configuration ) recently.
It was not easy - a few SRs to IBM and Microsoft have been raised.
Implementation was quite painful, but final result is good.

Hello TSM community,
I would like to draw your attention to a newly published guide for
optimizing Tivoli Storage Manager performance. This guide is oriented
toward TSM version 6.3 and 6.4, and supersedes the previous performance
tuning guides. The guide features a whole new approach to:

Hi Tim,
Have you showed this to Microsoft?
The output below is from Microsoft's tool
for integrity checking (ESEUTIL).
Microsoft may be able to tell you why ESEUTIL
could not access the file.
On a side note... in case you were not aware:

Hi everybody,
TSM 6.2 on AIX 5.3
Is there any way to determine the primary tapes needed by a "backup stgpool"
command before launching it.
Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem - one node has a 4TB (yes, TB) SQL database. Using
multiple streams helps. Still takes 17-hours to backup (from offsite across

for years - may finally get it this year).

I need that Microsoft hit translated - into English!
Is it saying that the Microsoft exposure is for a volume that is being extended

or for any volume that has EVER been extended?

Rick, that is interesting -
How do they accomplish "gets written in ... smaller pieces"?
Is this some TDP tuning parameters you invoke, or is it a matter of backing up
1 DB at a time instead of doing "backup *"?

Most of our problems like this are SQL db backups that are one big file.
We ask the Win admins and DBA's to change the backup such that it gets
written in a bunch of smaller pieces.
Try and identify the big file that is is being backed up. Can it be

Has anyone had numerous issues with TSM TDP for Exchange 2010. We continue to

and Microsoft claims its not their issue. We initially had Exchange circular
logging enabled and have since
turned that off as recommended. I see that TSM TDP for Exchange 6.4 is

But, how do you address/resolve this kind of problem?

(reliatively) Big files, transmitted (relatively) slowly, are my most
common log-pin culprit.

I have been experiencing frequent "log pinned" situations on a v6.2.5.0
server - by this I mean my monitoring program starts alerting me about the
active log reaching >75% (currently at 50GB).
