If you have a straightforward backup of every storage pool every day,
then amount backed up = amount copied to storagepools.
This number can be gotten from the actlog for each process or from the
summary table.

I agree on the speed/duplex. I have personally seen speed/duplex
mismatch cause this. I don't personally have issues with Auto, just
make sure both sides(server and switch) match.

Encryption is supported through the TSM API starting at 5.3. To set it up
with DP Oracle/RMAN you need to make the following changes in your dsm.sys

First step: you receive an userid/password to login to ISC, AdminCenter is
there.
