restoring the DB is external to the TSM server so tsm server security doesn't apply.
After restoration, in the unix world, you can run dsmserv foreground and use that to
change any admin passwords. All that is needed is a unix ID that has access to the
TSM database files - usually r

We have a few users that want to "clone" a production machine to do testing.
And they want to use TSM to do it. Becuasue of this limitation we use MS
Backup to backup system state to disk.
Then the restore process is similar to documented Bare Metal Resto

different name. The computer name of the restore target much match that of
the original machine.

Now it can be a physically different machine, but it must have the same

Is this a one off or are are you planning to do this regularly.
How are you goung to achieve this.
Anyway you can get a reasonable idea from taking the filepace occupancy, unless
you have major excludes from backup, this is going to be your active file size

If you are only interested in active files, there is the possibility of
checking it on the actual client, how much data in each filespace
(filesystem/drive/etc).
A worst case (it gives all backup-data, active and inactive) could be "q occ
