Geoff Re:#2 restoring the DB is external to the TSM server so tsm server security doesn't apply. After restoration, in the unix world, you can run dsmserv foreground and use that to change any admin passwords. All that is needed is a unix ID that has access to the TSM database files - usually root . I think the same is true in the windows world but its some time since I played there.
Basically you have to trust your unix admins.
