RE: Error code listing
Seak, The standard Windows error codes aren't function-specific, they're general - error 11004 for example has a specific meaning, relating to network name-lookup. In most cases, VNC servers & viewers _will_ also include the name of the failing function in error messages. I need to install a vnc server on Fedora Core 6 server and the viewer on a W2K station. After I saw that I can't access on the server with the viewer I sought the reasons and the first was the Vnc log file with the errors you can see below. (For my test the firewall was deactivated) The next stage would have been to install another Core6 and to try the access from it. RE: Font init problem
Thierry, "Connection timed out" means that there was no response from the target computer whatsoever, neither to accept nor to reject the connection. The FAQ item http://www.realvnc.com/faq.html#natrouter and http://www.realvnc.com/portforward.html give tips on diagnosing the possible causes of this error. The most likely cause that springs to mind is that FC6 is running a firewall that you need to create a VNC exception for. Re: Black Loading screen
I'm not sure what 2 suggestions didn't work for you, as you have not included them in this email trail. Does this situation occur immediately after a reboot? If not, then it may be very likely that Remote Desktop (RDP) or Fast User Switching (FUS) is also being used on the PC in question. VNC is not compatible with these XP features. Doing a search on the mail list for FUS and/or RDP will yield many results. Steve Jorgens wrote: Sorry but both suggestions didn't apply. Any other ideas? Turn Off Mouse
Hello, I'm currently using VNC 4.1.2 on a CentOS 4.3 OS. I have two monitors setup and run a vncviewer taking up the entire screen on each monitor. I was wondering if its possible to have the mouse disappear when the pointer goes from one screen to the other. Currently, when I'm on screen 1 and move my mouse to screen 2, the mouse get picked up on screen 2, but the mouse icon stays on screen 1 as well. Is there a way to disable this? RE: Error code listing
Seak, Yes, 11004 is a standard Winsock error code. RealVNC Enterprise "Connection Refused (111)"
I have installed RealVNC Enterprise x86 4.2.7 (with temp lic. key) on Ubuntu 6.10 via the tarball. My /etc/xinetd.d/Xvnc file is : service Xvnc { type = UNLISTED disable = no socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = yes user = root server = /usr/bin/Xvnc server_args = -inetd :1 -query localhost -geometry 1024x768 - depth 16 -once -fp /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc -DisconnectClients=0 - NeverShared passwordFile=/root/.vncpasswd port = 5901 } The service is up and running. Firewall (for testing purposes) is off. Using command-line on the local machine... $ vncviewer localhost:1 gives me... Yes, this is very scorning and lacks of respect, but after a lot of failures and unhappy experiences, I finally adopted this attitude and helped me a lot, sadly to say. Always think they're not telling what they're seeing, or they're not doing what they think they are doing (in the assumption that they're stupid). In other words, *do the test yourself*, if possible. If that's not possible, *don't trust what they've said* and suggest them a step by step procedure to lead them do thing (as if they were 5-years children). ___ VNC-List mailing list VNC-List@realvnc.com To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
RE: Font init problem
Hi Adam, The problem was that on default W2K use the port 5900 Without other options VNCserver start on Linux with port 5901. I found the xvnc options near the link you show me. Thanks for your help. -Message d'origine- De : [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] De la part de James Weatherall Envoyi : lundi 15 janvier 2007 13:44 @ : 'Thierry Michels'; 'Adam Tkac'; vnc-list@realvnc.com Objet : RE: Font init problem Thierry, "Connection timed out" means that there was no response from the target computer whatsoever, neither to accept nor to reject the connection. The FAQ item http://www.realvnc.com/faq.html#natrouter and http://www.realvnc.com/portforward.html give tips on diagnosing the possible causes of this error. The most likely cause that springs to mind is that FC6 is running a firewall that you need to create a VNC exception for.
